The story is good up to chapter 25 when Daniel suddenly appears and all of a sudden the authors seems to decide, "what the hell - let's just do something totally out of character and figure out how to deal with later." It definitely broke the flow of the existing story and this reader was not pleased with the sudden shift. The argument and emotional outburst in the bar with Brendan and Daniel is out of left field, when it happens.

From this point one the story lost its momentum as far as I was concerned. I can't describe my displeasure without dropping spoilers for those who haven't read it and while I can't recommend someone read it, I don't want to annoy those who want to try. I made it to the end only by skimming through much of the rambling prose.

I loved every word of this incredible story. I laughed and cried along with Ian, Brendan and Garrett, as they told the story of the most important years of their life. Whatever you're doing, you should stop, and start reading this today!!
This story had me guessing up until the very end! Intrigue, romance and suspense. Well written and very engaging. Thanks for letting me live in this world for a few days.
So much more than a same sex romance! The characters were well-drawn and detailed. There was a nice mix of romance, suspense, angst, humor, and a teensy bit of sex. I am looking forward to more from this author in the future. Highly recommended!
Surrendering Ian was so well-written that I could see the events play out in my head, like a movie. The characters were so developed that I wasn't left wondering anything. Although my predictions for the end of the book weren't correct, I couldn't be happier, despite the sad parts. There were parts that made me cry, and I would wish they were real so I could give them a hug. There were parts that made me laugh out loud, and make me feel like I was in the book with them sharing the joke. If this book were to ever make it to screenplay form, I would pay good money to go see it. I hope C. J. Dixon has more in store for us!
